Ontario updated application processing times in the OINP

On October 14, 2021, Ontario has updated the average processing time in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). As of now, the processing time in Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream, Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, Master Graduates Stream, Ph.D. Graduates Stream, Employer Job Offer Foreign Worker Stream, Employer Job Offer International Student Stream and Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills Stream is 30-60 days. The Expression of Interest (EOI) Assessment in the Entrepreneur Stream requires less than 30 days, while the application processing depends on the complexity of the business nomination application.

Survey results show that Canadian education and immigration policies attract international students

In July 2021, IDP Connect conducted a survey with more than 6,000 students from 20 countries, including international students currently studying at 527 universities and colleges in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, to understand their interest and evaluation of different study destinations. The survey results show that Canada is the most popular destination for international students. Surveyed students stated that there are a few main reasons why they choose Canada as their first choice: high-quality education, employment opportunities after graduation, support for international students, and a diverse and inclusive environment.

Ontario issued 7,849 nomination certificates this year

On October 14, 2021, the management of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) released a new update on the issuance of the provincial nomination certificates. In 2021, OINP has issued nominations to 7,849 applicants, 1,010 nominations more compared to the previous update on September 9. In 2020, Ontario invited 16,976 candidates and issued nominations to 8,050 main applicants, including 7,249 spouses and dependent children. The Federal government delegated 8,350 spots to OINP and extra 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers in intermediate skilled occupations (NOC C) for 2021 allocation.

Quebec.ca presented the Foreign Student Program

On October 13, 2021, the Quebec.ca website presented information on the Foreign Student Program. All of the information regarding the Program is available in the ‘Period of study in Quebec’ section of the Quebec government’s website. In this new section, candidates who wish to apply for temporary selection for studies in order to come and stay in Quebec will find useful information. In addition, prospective applicants are now able to submit a comment about the content at the bottom of the pages.
