The AAIP updated the inventory and invited healthcare professionals

On October 10, 2023, Alberta published an update considering the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) inventory. According to the new update, there were around 2,462 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications, 668 Rural Renewal Stream applications, 212 Accelerated Tech Pathway applications, 114 Family Connection Stream applications, 167 applications from priority sectors, and less than ten applications under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway. In addition, on October 10, 2023, the AAIP invited 13 candidates working in the healthcare sector who scored 327 points. This year, Alberta invited 3,381 candidates and issued 8,437 nomination certificates.

British Columbia invited tech professionals and skilled candidates under the BCPNP

On October 11, 2023, British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 118 invitations with a minimum score of 90 points. In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited 45 candidates who scored 60 points. In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued 17 invitations. In addition, the province invited up to five candidates for other priority occupations (NOCs 31003, 32104). The province invited up to 185 candidates with a score of 60-90 points. Including this draw, in 2023, British Columbia has already issued 8,228 invitations.

Sudbury considered 49 applications in the new RNIP draw

On October 11, 2023, the City of Greater Sudbury held a new round of invitations in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). In this round, Sudbury considered 49 candidates. The lowest score of these draws was 240 points, five points more than in the previous draw. Last year, Sudbury invited a total of 154 applicants. Since the program’s launch, the city has recommended at least 486 individuals under the RNIP. So far, the city has considered 378 candidates in 2023.

Afghan refugees continue to arrive in Canada

On October 11, 2023, the Government of Canada made an update regarding the Afghan refugees arriving in the country. The last update shows Canada has accepted 485 Afghan refugees since October 3, 2023. As of now, Canada has welcomed a total of 39,555 Afghan refugees. Canada received 19,665 Afghans and their families’ applications under the Special Immigration Measures Program for Afghans who had assisted the Government of Canada in Afghanistan. 11,950 Afghans arrived in Canada under that program, and 20,100 Afghan nationals came under the Humanitarian program. In addition, Canada admitted 2,570 applicants under the pathway for extended family members of former interpreters.
