MPNP clarified conditions regarding the IRCC’s recent policy on lifting the limit on off-campus work hours for international students
On October 7, 2022, the Government of Manitoba clarified the new temporary policy introduced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The provincial government defined that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) criteria for qualifying work in Manitoba has not changed. Only those with a work permit from IRCC are eligible to apply to the MPNP’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway. The MPNP does not accept periods of employment when students are engaged in full-time study as they do not hold a work permit. Qualifying work experience in Manitoba includes work completed with a valid post-graduation work permit or another work permit.
