Manitoba conducted a new MPNP draw and invited over 500 candidates
On October 5, 2023, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #197, the MPNP held a new occupation-specific candidate selection under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) stream and invited 219 applicants who scored 610 points and above. Manitoba also issued 222 LAAs in the regular SWM draw. The minimum score for the LAA in this category was 629 points, two points fewer than the previous draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, MPNP issued 41 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest score in the SWO category was 601 points, 122 points fewer than in the previous draw. In addition, 60 invitations were issued in the International Education Stream. In this round, Manitoba has issued LAAs to 542 candidates, including 140 Express Entry candidates. In 2023, MPNP invited 13,445 candidates, and 3,675 of them received invitations in the Express Entry.

Canada invited 2,846 candidates under the IEC
Over the last week, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From September 30 to October 6, Canada invited 2,846 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of October 6, 30,400 candidates registered in the pool, awaiting the invitation. In this round, there were 194 ITAs for Australia, 2 ITAs for Austria, 31 ITAs for Belgium, 957 ITAs for Chile, 16 ITA for Costa Rica, 5 ITAs for Croatia, 31 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 6 ITAs for Denmark, 9 ITAs for Estonia, 135 ITAs for France, 120 ITAs for Germany, 20 ITAs for Greece, 7 ITAs for Hong Kong, 155 ITAs for Ireland, 104 ITAs for Italy, 15 ITAs for Japan, 140 ITAs for Korea, 1 ITA for Latvia, 3 ITAs for Lithuania, 3 ITAs for Luxembourg, 28 ITAs for the Netherlands, 47 ITAs for New Zealand, 8 ITAs for Norway, 21 ITAs for Poland, 32 ITAs for Portugal, 7 ITAs for Slovakia, 5 ITAs for Slovenia, 72 ITAs for Spain, 6 ITAs for Sweden, 2 ITAs for Switzerland, 341 ITAs for Taiwan, and 323 ITAs for the United Kingdom. In 2023, Canada issued 124,462 ITAs under the IEC Program.

ESDC updated processing times for LMIA applications
On October 6, 2023, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) updated the processing times for the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications under various streams. Based on statistics from all processing centres, the current average LMIA processing times have increased only for the Low-wage Stream.
