OINP invited a record number of tech candidates under the Human Capital Priorities Stream
On May 5, 2023, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a new invitation draw under the Human Capital Priorities Stream. In the latest tech draw, the OINP issued 1,863 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates with work experience in one of the in-demand tech occupations. Those candidates’ CRS Express Entry score was between 475-482 points. The OINP invited candidates under nine national occupational codes (NOC) in this draw. In 2023, Ontario issued 13,740 invitations under all streams of OINP, including 5,402 candidates under the Human Capital Priorities Stream.

Manitoba held new draws under the MPNP
On May 4, 2023, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #178, the MPNP held a new occupation-specific candidate selection under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) stream and invited 252 applicants who scored 606 points and above. Manitoba also issued 199 LAAs in the regular SWM draw. The minimum score for the LAA in this category was 650 points, one point fewer than the previous draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, MPNP issued 49 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest score in the SWO category was 699 points, 20 points fewer than in the previous draw. In addition, 39 invitations were issued in the International Education Stream. Manitoba has issued LAAs to 539 candidates, including 204 Express Entry candidates for this round. In 2023, MPNP invited 4,978 candidates, and 1,155 of them received invitations in the Express Entry.

New Brunswick invited new candidates via the Express Entry stream
In April 2023, the provincial Government of New Brunswick issued new Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the three Express Entry streams of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP). The province issued 45 ITAs under the New Brunswick Employment Connection stream, 27 ITAs through the New Brunswick Student Connection stream, and 14 ITAs under the Express Entry Occupations In-Demand Connection stream. In total, New Brunswick has invited 86 candidates in April. In 2023, 416 candidates received ITAs under these three NBPNP streams.

IRCC invited new candidates under the IEC after a two-week pause
Over the three weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From April 15 to May 5, Canada invited 2,453 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of May 5, there were 23,420 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation. In this round, there were 269 ITAs for Australia, 1 ITA for Austria, 38 ITAs for Belgium, 40 ITAs for Chile, 110 ITAs for Costa Rica, 4 ITAs for Croatia, 37 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 5 ITAs for Estonia, 504 ITAs for France, 154 ITAs for Germany, 14 ITAs for Greece, 10 ITAs for Hong Kong, 148 ITAs for Ireland, 88 ITAs for Italy, 205 ITAs for Japan, 280 ITAs for Korea, 6 ITAs for Lithuania, 2 ITAs for Luxembourg, 69 ITAs for New Zealand, 3 ITAs for Norway, 37 ITAs for Poland, 27 ITAs for Portugal, 20 ITAs for Slovakia, 2 ITAs for Slovenia, 63 ITAs for Spain, 18 ITAs for Sweden, 20 ITAs for Switzerland, and 279 ITAs for Taiwan. In 2023, Canada issued 79,649 ITAs under the IEC Program.
