Canada invited 500 provincial nominees in the Express Entry draw #189

On May 26, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry invitation round. In draw #189, IRCC invited candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program. Immigration Department issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to 500 provincial candidates, and the lowest score in this draw was 713 points, 39 points fewer than in the previous PNP-specific draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round April 6, 2021 at 09:50:14 UTC. In total, Canada invited 68,817 candidates to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry in 2021.

Canada introduced updates to the temporary public policies for the new TR to PR pathways

On May 26, 2021, the Government of Canada introduced a new program delivery update for the Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway (TR2PR). New instructions include several clarifications of the requirements to the temporary public policies for candidates in all four pathways. The updated instructions relate to the entry into Canada and status of the applicants, language proficiency, current work experience, factors to consider for employee and self-employed individuals, intent to reside outside of Quebec, and education requirements for international graduates. These policies aim to facilitate the granting of permanent residence foreign applicants (both English and French-speaking) who have work experience in Canada in an essential occupation or the health or health services field or have recently graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution and reside in Canada, outside of Quebec.

Ontario held new draws in the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream

On May 26, 2021, in the first general draw, the Government of Ontario issued 147 invitations to apply (ITA) through the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The minimum score in this draw was 73 points. In the second draw, the province issued 11 ITAs through the Regional Immigration Pilot. There was no minimum score published for this draw. To be eligible, candidates must have submitted profiles between April 28 and May 26, 2021. The Stream is open for foreign nationals, who have an eligible job offer in a skilled occupation at Skill Levels NOC 0, A or B from an employer in Ontario, and must have completed a program at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
