Canada invited 589 PNP candidates in the new Express Entry draw
On May 25, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 589 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in the new PNP-specific draw. In round #223, the lowest score to get the ITA was 741 points, 12 points fewer compared to the previous round. The tie-breaking rule for this round was February 2, 2022 at 12:29:53 UTC. As of May 24, 2022, there are 211,093 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 4,367 more compared to the previous update. In 2022, Canada invited 9,220 candidates to apply for PR in Express Entry.

IRCC launched the new International Mobility Program Plus category for Quebec
On May 24, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced the new International Mobility Program Plus (IMP+) for Quebec-selected skilled workers. It is a new open work permit option for foreign nationals selected by the province who reside overseas or in a province other than Quebec. Until the Federal Government and Quebec signed the agreement, work permit applications from Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) holders outside Quebec will be processed under R205(a). Foreign nationals cannot apply for an open work permit under this category at entry.

Winnipeg accepted the first Federal charter flight for Ukrainians
On May 23, 2022, the Government of Canada announced the arrival of the first Federal charter flight for Ukrainians. The charter flight carrying 328 Ukrainian nationals arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ukrainians were welcomed by Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister, Heather Stefanson, Manitoba Premier, and the volunteers of the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. The next federal charter flights are scheduled to arrive from Poland on May 29, in Montreal, and on June 2, in Halifax. These flights are the travel support initiative of the Government of Canada and the Ukraine2Canada Travel Fund.

Alberta invited new candidates and updated the AINP inventory
On May 25, 2022, Alberta published the update of the inventory of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). There were around 1,050 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 750 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. In addition, on May 19, 2022, Alberta held a new round in the Alberta Express Entry Stream and issued 100 Notifications of Interest (NOI). The lowest score in this round was 382 points, 26 points more than it was in the previous draw. Last year, AINP invited 6,608 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry. In 2022, Alberta has already invited 2,050 candidates.
