IRCC updated minimum settlement fund numbers for Express Entry candidates
On May 11, 2022, the Government of Canada updated the table that shows how much money Express Entry candidates need to settle in Canada. To be eligible, candidates must update their settlement fund numbers in their Express Entry profiles no later than June 8, 2022. This action will not affect the applicants’ tie-breaker situation. The Canadian Government updates the minimum amount of settlement funds every year, based on 50% of the low-income cut-off totals. Despite these changes being small, they still can affect some applicants’ eligibility.

IRCC continues to process applications of Ukrainian nationals under the CUAET
On May 13, 2022, the Government of Canada updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). According to the latest update, between January 1 and May 8, 2022, 6,017 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and an additional 22,317 arrived by air. Between March 17 and May 11, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) received 223,664 applications under the CUAET. The applications of 104,553 Ukrainian nationals have been approved so far.

Canada invited 3,573 candidates under the International Experience Canada
Over the last week, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From May 9 to May 15, Canada invited 3,573 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of May 13, there are 21,198 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation. In this round, there were 290 ITAs for Australia, 52 ITAs for Austria, 28 ITAs for Belgium, 1 ITA for Chile, 1 ITA for Costa Rica, 2 ITAs for Croatia, 63 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 18 ITAs for Denmark, 4 ITAs for Estonia, 503 ITAs for France, 174 ITAs for Germany, 1 ITA for Greece, 21 ITAs for Hong Kong, 187 ITAs for Ireland, 75 ITAs for Italy, 144 ITAs for Japan, 162 ITAs for South Korea, 5 ITAs for Lithuania, 14 ITAs for the Netherlands, 91 ITAs for New Zealand, 2 ITAs for Norway, 24 ITAs for Poland, 30 ITAs for Portugal, 20 ITAs for Slovakia, 2 ITAs for Slovenia, 31 ITAs for Spain, 17 ITAs for Sweden, 4 ITAs for Switzerland, 14 ITAs for Taiwan, and 1,593 ITAs for the United Kingdom. In 2022, Canada issued 76,845 ITAs under the IEC Program.

Quebec invited 30 candidates in the seventh Arrima draw of 2022
On May 13, 2022, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) published the results of the 33rd invitation round in Quebec’s online system Arrima. On May 5, 2022, MIFI invited 30 candidates to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. Candidates invited in this round had a valid job offer outside the territory of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. In 2022, MIFI issued 2,232 invitations. Since the launch of Arrima in July 2019, the government of Quebec invited 8,504 foreign nationals in 33 draws to apply for immigration to Quebec.
