British Columbia invited 171 Skilled Immigration and Tech candidates in the new BCPNP draws
On May 10, 2022, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and invited qualified Skills Immigration candidates and Tech workers. In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 126 invitations, with a minimum score of 85 points. In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 4214), the province invited 20 candidates. In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 20 candidates. In addition, the province issued less than 5 invitations to Healthcare assistants (NOC 3413). The lowest score of those candidates was 62 points. In total, the province invited up to 171 candidates. In 2022, British Columbia has already issued 3,321 invitations.

Alberta updated the AAIP inventory
On May 10, 2022, Alberta published the update of the inventory of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). According to the update, there were around 900 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 775 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. In 2021, the province issued all 6,250 nomination certificates to eligible applicants and invited 6,608 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry. In 2022, Alberta has already issued invitations to 1,950 candidates.

BCPNP invited up to five candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream
On May 10, 2022, British Columbia held a new draw for business candidates in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). In the Base Category of the Entrepreneur Stream, BC PNP invited up to 5 candidates. The lowest score of this round was 109 points, 8 points fewer compared to the previous draw. The maximum possible points in the Entrepreneur Stream grid are 200. 120 points candidates can get for self-declared factors such as Experience & Ownership, Net Worth, Investment, etc. Another 80 points are given for the business concept. This year, the province invited up to 18 entrepreneurs under the BCPNP.

Businesses in Quebec demand the provincial government to allow more foreign workers to come to Quebec
In 2021, 50,280 new permanent residents of Canada settled in Quebec. To address the province’s severe labour shortages, corporate executives want this number to increase. According to reports from industry organizations, the requested consensus among industry groups is for the province to accept at least 80,000 immigrants each year. Veronique Proulx, the President of the Manufacturers et Exportateurs du Quebec (MEQ) stated that businesses know that the labour shortage issue cannot be solved in a short time but the companies want at least to reduce the impact of the lack of workers.
