Prince Edward Island held a new draw and invited 46 skilled candidates

On March 2, 2023, Prince Edward Island conducted a new invitation round in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams and invited 46 candidates under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). The PEIPNP issued a total of 1,854 invitations in 2022. This year, PEI invited 497 candidates, including 484 under the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories and 13 business candidates. The province admits the most immigrants per capita of any province in Canada. According to the schedule, the next PEI PNP draw will occur on March 16, 2023.

IRCC invited 2,097 candidates in the new IEC draw

Over the last week, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From February 25 to March 3, Canada invited 2,097 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of March 3, there were 14,138 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation. In this round, there were 273 ITAs for Australia, 15 ITAs for Austria, 37 ITAs for Belgium, 16 ITAs for Chile, 5 ITAs for Costa Rica, 5 ITAs for Croatia, 38 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 16 ITAs for Denmark, 7 ITAs for Estonia, 164 ITAs for France, 168 ITAs for Germany, 6 ITAs for Greece, 10 ITAs for Hong Kong, 303 ITAs for Ireland, 77 ITAs for Italy, 220 ITAs for Japan, 93 ITAs for Korea, 2 ITAs for Latvia, 15 ITAs for Lithuania, 2 ITAs for the Netherlands, 73 ITAs for New Zealand, 3 ITAs for Norway, 26 ITAs for Poland, 43 ITAs for Portugal, 17 ITAs for Slovakia, 2 ITAs for Slovenia, 70 for Spain, 13 ITAs for Sweden, 3 ITAs for Switzerland, and 375 ITAs for the United Kingdom. In 2023, Canada issued 59,471 ITAs under the IEC Program.

Canada opened a new application processing centre in the Philippines

On March 3, 2023, the Government of Canada opened a new application processing centre in the Philippines to accelerate immigration application processing in the Indo-Pacific region. Canada is expanding its capacity to process visa applications worldwide with a newly established centre and 37 additional employees. This new initiative will improve client service and help Canada achieve increasing immigration levels. Canada invests strategically to attract more people from other countries to bolster its international presence. The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has established visa offices in over 50 countries.

The AAIP to welcome 10,000 immigrants per year

Every year, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) carefully determines the total number of Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates that each province can nominate annually. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has significantly increased the PNP allocations from last year. In 2023, the province will issue 9,750 nominations – an astounding increase of over 50% compared to 6,500 nominations issued in 2022. In an official statement, the province announced it would issue 10,140 nominations in 2024 and 10,849 in 2025. The province is looking for more skilled workers as there are about 100,000 job vacancies to fill.
