Ontario invited 2,583 Skilled Trades Stream candidates

On March 1, 2024, Ontario invited 2,583 candidates under the Skilled Trades Stream of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). This was a targeted draw, focused on candidates working in 48 NOCs with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score ranging from 350 to 424. Candidates who created their profiles in the Express Entry system between March 1, 2023, and March 1, 2024, were considered by OINP in this draw. In 2024, the province invited 17,243 candidates under all OINP’s streams.

As of March 1, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated guidelines for application processing under the new permanent residence pathway for Colombian, Haitian, and Venezuelan nationals. This public policy aims to provide a regular immigration pathway as an alternative to irregular migration. It will assist specific Colombian, Haitian, and Venezuelan nationals with family members in Canada who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents in obtaining permanent residence. Under this temporary pathway, IRCC will welcome up to 11,000 foreign nationals from the Americas.

Canada launched the Canada – Finland Youth Mobility Agreement

On March 1, 2024, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), launched the Canada–Finland Youth Mobility Agreement, which was signed on May 19, 2023. This agreement allows Canadians and Finns aged 18 to 35 to work and travel in each other’s country through the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program or its Finnish counterpart. This initiative, celebrating 77 years of diplomatic relations, strengthens bilateral ties and provides cultural exchange opportunities.
