NTNP introduced useful resources for Ukrainian nationals coming to Canada

On March 25, 2022, Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) published useful and the most recent resources for Ukrainian nationals planning to come to Canada. Northwest Territories are also ready to accept Ukrainians under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), and special family reunification sponsorship pathway for permanent residence (PR). In addition, NTNP also published a link for the Government of Canada’s new Job Bank for Ukrainians and employers who wish to support them, as well as a webpage with relevant links to programs specific for Ukrainians.

The Government of Canada issued an immigration fraud warning

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has warned all foreign nationals who want to come to Canada to work, study, or live in the country permanently that they have to be aware of immigration fraud. Many of these fraudsters posing as immigration consultants are surprisingly cover their scams and can take unfair advantage of many prospective immigrants. The Canadian immigration department warned in a tweet not to be a victim of immigration fraud and be very careful while working with consultants asking them to provide a proper license.

Ottawa invited a record number of applicants for the month of January

As Canada plans to accept more immigrants in 2022, it started the year with a record-breaking number of new permanent residents for the month of January. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in January 2022, the Government of Canada invited 35,260 new permanent residents. Despite this figure being down almost 19% when compared to December 2021, comparing it to the previous years’ January months, it shows the higher immigration levels. Considering that in January 2021 Canada invited 24,700 PR candidates, the number of new PR candidates to Canada in January 2022 rose by more than 42.7%.

Canada is ready to accept Ukrainian nationals fleeing the war

On March 17, 2022, the federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) introduced new pathways to support Ukrainian nationals coming to Canada. The first Ukrainian nationals have already started to receive their visas to Come to Canada. The Canadian Government, as well as the provincial governments, are implementing new measures to support Ukrainians when they arrived in Canada. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser stated that “businesses and employers can add jobs for Ukrainians on Canada’s online job bank and the Government is working with partners, including provinces and territories, the business community, the Ukrainian-Canadian community, and settlement organizations on how best to support Ukrainians.”
