Alberta updated Express Entry and work permit policies

The Government of Alberta has announced modifications to its immigration framework, effective March 17, 2025. Under the revised Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) guidelines, Express Entry candidates who submitted applications after September 30, 2024, are now permitted to extend their expiring profiles. The province has, however, opted not to implement the federal government’s temporary work permit initiative for 2025 due to resource limitations. Furthermore, the AAIP has ceased issuing invitations through the Family Connection and Occupation in Demand Stream, although candidates retain the ability to acquire points for eligible family ties within Alberta.
