Manitoba issued invitations to Ukrainian candidates

On March 18, 2022, the Government of Manitoba held the second draw for Ukrainian candidates. In this draw, the province invited 71 candidates through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). To be eligible, applicants must be a Ukrainian citizen, have a minimum of CLB 4 in each language band, have connections to the province (close relative, family-like, community, previous employment or studies in Manitoba), and score at least 60 points, and possess a valid language test in one of the official languages.

Prince Edward Island issued 141 invitations in February 2022

On March 17, 2022, Prince Edward Island conducted a new invitation round in the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). In the third round of the year, the province issued 130 invitations to apply to skilled workers in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams. PEI also invited 11 candidates to the Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs stream. The lowest score for business candidates was 62 points, 5 points fewer than it was in the February draw. In 2021, Prince Edward Island issued 1,854 invitations, including 157 invitations to business candidates. This year, PEI invited 396 candidates. The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for April 21, 2022.

Immigration Minister met with Afghan refugees in Alberta

On March 18, 2022, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser travelled to Alberta to meet with Afghan refugees and Resettlement Assistance Program service provider organizations (RAP SPOs) in Alberta. Recently, Alberta welcomed 330 Afghan refugees and human rights defenders, increasing the number of Afghan refugees in the province to 1,600. Each week, Canada keeps accepting Afghan refugees under the special human rights defenders immigration stream launched in July 2021. To date, Canada has admitted more than 9,400 Afghan nationals under this stream.

Canada invited 5,963 candidates under the International Experience Canada

Over the last week, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From March 14 to March 20, Canada invited 5,963 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of March 18, there are 20,757 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation. In this round, there were 1 ITA for Andorra, 200 ITAs for Australia, 39 ITAs for Belgium, 80 ITAs for Chile, 4 ITAs for Costa Rica, 4 ITAs for Croatia, 54 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 20 ITAs for Denmark, 10 ITAs for Estonia, 2,142 ITAs for France, 250 ITAs for Germany, 13 ITAs for Greece, 22 ITAs for Hong Kong, 374 ITAs for Ireland, 69 ITAs for Italy, 190 ITAs for Japan, 1,099 ITAs for South Korea, 5 ITAs for Latvia, 17 ITAs for Lithuania, 37 ITAs for the Netherlands, 91 ITAs for New Zealand, 1 ITA for Norway, 46 ITAs for Poland, 29 ITAs for Portugal, 34 ITAs for Slovakia, 1 ITA for Slovenia, 132 ITAs for Spain, 10 ITAs for Sweden, 9 ITAs for Switzerland, 136 ITAs for Taiwan, and 844 ITAs for the United Kingdom. In 2022, Canada issued 57,186 ITAs under the IEC Program.
