Non-Ukrainian family members are waiting months to reunite with their families in Canada
Hundreds of families seeking safety in Canada from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine have reported discrepancies within the Canadian Immigration Department, which keeps households apart for weeks or months with limited resources. Unfortunately, some applicants say that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) fails to process household visas together, leaving families unable to remain united. They have applied for emergency visa permits and are stranded in limbo as their children’s or non-Ukrainian spouse’s applications take too long to go through Canada’s immigration system – some wait times stretching beyond ten months.
