Ontario invited candidates under two streams of OINP
On March 14, 2023, the Government of Ontario held new draws in the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream (EJO IS) and Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW) of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The province held two draws in the EJO IS Stream and issued 906 invitations to apply (ITAs) to eligible candidates working in the skilled trades, healthcare, and tech occupations. In addition, Ontario held another targeted draw of the OINP for candidates of the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP). In this draw, Ontario issued two targeted invitations to apply to candidates in the EOI pool who may be eligible for the federal EMPP under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. In total, OINP issued invitations to 9,319 candidates in 2023.

Ottawa published processing instructions for temporary special measures to support Iranian nationals
On March 14, 2023, the Government of Canada published processing instructions regarding the temporary special measures to support Iranian temporary residents living, working, or studying in Canada. To help support Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing in Iran, the measures have granted fee waivers on travel documents to help facilitate their travel. In effect until February 28, 2024, these special measures include priority processing and fee waivers for temporary residents in Canada and Canadian citizens and permanent residents currently living in Iran.

Alberta invited new candidates under the AAIP
On March 14, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published a new update regarding the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). As of March 14, 2023, there were around 1,490 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 450 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. In addition, on March 9, 2023, Alberta held a new invitation round in the Alberta Express Entry Stream and issued 134 Notifications of Interest (NOI) with a minimum score of 301. In 2023, the province invited 434 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry and issued 1,292 nomination certificates.

British Columbia invited up to 235 candidates in the new BCPNP draw
On March 14, 2023, British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 197 invitations with a minimum score of 83 points. In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited 23 candidates who scored 60 points. In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued ten invitations. Additionally, fewer than five invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104). The province invited up to 235 candidates with a score of 60-83 points. Including this draw, in 2023, British Columbia has already issued 2,540 invitations.
