Alberta invited 184 candidates in the new AINP draw

On June 22, 2021, Alberta published a new update of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). The province conducted a new draw in the Alberta Express Entry Stream and issued 184 Notifications of Interest (NOI). The lowest score in this round was 300, the same compared to June 5 draw. In 2021, AINP already invited 2,284 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry. At the moment, Alberta received 1,600 applications in the Alberta Opportunity Stream and 400 Expressions of Interest (EOI) in the Alberta Express Entry Stream. These applications are waiting for the eligibility assessment.

The Youth Mobility Agreement between Canada and Andorra came into force

On June 22, 2021, the Government of Canada updated instructions for International Experience Canada (IEC) Program. The Government signed a new Youth Mobility Agreement (YMA) with Andorra that came into effect on June 21, 2021. IEC applicants coming from this country under the Working Holiday Program can find eligibility requirements in the bilateral agreement. Currently, Canada has the IEC Program agreements with 36 countries and territories. These agreements are open to Canadian and foreign youth aged 18 to 35 and support Canada’s economic and cultural interests.

Canada’s new Oath of Citizenship officially recognizes First Nations, Inuit and Metis rights

On June 21, 2021, the Government of Canada updated the oath of citizenship to include Indigenous peoples, through Bill C-8. This is a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Call to Action 94. As of June 21, 2021, the new Oath of Citizenship officially recognizes First Nations, Inuit and Metis, and the obligation that all Canadians have to uphold the treaties between the Crown and Indigenous nations. Canada’s new Oath will help new Canadians to make a personal commitment to observe the Aboriginal and treaty rights of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples.

British Columbia held a new draw

On June 22, 2021, British Columbia conducted two draws in the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In the general draw, the province issued 341 invitations.

  • Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker 93
  • Skills Immigration – International Graduate 85 (-3 point)
  • Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 75 (-1 point)
  • Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker 92 (-1 point)
  • Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate 85 (-3 point)

The second round of the day targeted only candidates in NOC 0621 – Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers and NOC 0631 – Restaurant and Food Service Managers. BCPNP invited 54 such candidates. Both NOCs have a high number of registrants within the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System. The lowest score of those candidates was 109 points, one point less compared to the previous draw for these NOCs. In total, British Columbia issued 5,730 ITAs under the BCPNP in 2021.
