Ontario issued 940 invitations in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker and International Student Streams
On June 16, 2021, the government of Ontario held a new draw in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW) and International Student Stream (EJO IS) of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The province issued 569 invitations to apply (ITAs) to the eligible candidates through the EJO FW Stream with a minimum score of 38, and 371 ITAs to international students through the EJO IS Stream with a score of 66 and above. In total, OINP issued invitations to 5,830 candidates under all streams of the OINP in 2021.

Canada introduced new updates regarding the study or work permit applications processed outside of Canada
On June 16, 2021, the Government of Canada introduced instructions for foreign nationals who are physically in Canada with temporary resident status but have received a letter of introduction (LOI) on their study or work permit application that was processed outside of Canada. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, applicants who can’t leave or re-enter Canada to present their LOI for the examination can request the document issuance from within Canada using the IRCC Web form. The pilot process extended until August 31, 2021, and also applicable for foreign nationals who received the LOI under International Experience Canada (IEC).

Quebec held a draw under the Refugees Abroad Program
On June 9, 2021, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) held a random draw under the Program for Refugees Abroad (Collective sponsorship) for the 2020-2021 period. 750 eligible applications submitted between April 6 and May 5, 2021, were randomly drawn from among the 1546 requests. Spokespersons of the groups of 2 to 5 individuals whose application was selected, were contacted via their Arrima account, on June 16, 2021. The draw was held under the supervision of the auditing firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton as well as in the presence of two witnesses to ensure the transparency of the process.

New Brunswick moved to phase 2 of the Green level ahead of schedule
On June 16, 2021, New Brunswick announced the province’s entrance to phase 2 on the path toward the Green level of the COVID-19 recovery plan two weeks ahead of the original target date. According to the new regulations, no isolation or testing will be required for those travelling to New Brunswick from the Atlantic provinces, including Nova Scotia, or for Canadian residents with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Unvaccinated Canadians from outside the Atlantic provinces will be permitted to enter the province but will be required to isolate and take a COVID-19 test. In addition, travel registration will continue to be required for all travellers entering the province from outside the Atlantic provinces. All other restrictions including the requirement for travel registration and the use of masks will remain in place. To note, New Brunswick entered phase 1 on June 15, 2021.
