Ontario updated the vendor list for the Entrepreneur stream
On June 13, 2022, the Government of Ontario introduced the updated vendor list for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Entrepreneur Stream. Applicants can choose one of the three successful vendors from the recent request for bids (RFB) for net worth verification and legal accumulation of funds. The new vendors are Grant Thornton LLP, KPMG LLP, and MNP LLP. Reports received by applicants by May 31, 2022, remain valid. The new vendor list is going to be effective until June 1, 2022.

Newfoundland and Labrador to accept the second airlift of Ukrainians
On June 13, 2022, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the province will accept more Ukrainian nationals. On June 14, 2022, Ukrainians will depart Warsaw, Poland and arrive in St. John’s. According to Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills of Newfoundland and Labrador, the flight will travel directly from Warsaw, Poland to St. John’s. The arrival will be assisted by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism’s Ukrainian Family Support Desk, which has been providing pre-arrival assistance.

Nova Scotia made changes to the Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry stream
On June 9, 2022, the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration of Nova Scotia made a change to the Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry stream. Only graduates from Nova Scotian educational institutions who have obtained their work experience on a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) are eligible for this stream. The new instructions do not apply to applicants who obtained their work experience on other types of work permits. The province will only process applications submitted on or before June 8, 2022.

Canada’s unemployment rate dropped to the record low
On June 10, 2022, Statistics Canada published a new Labour Force Survey. According to the survey, the labour force increased by 39,800 jobs in May, with most of the growth coming from full-time employment. Last month, over 135,000 people found full-time employment. Women employees in all age groups were responsible for the majority of the gains. Employment continued growing in May, despite a number of recent signals suggesting stronger demand and restricted supply. In May, total employment rose by 40,000 (+0.2%), with full-time work seeing particularly strong growth of 135,000 new hires (+0.9%), while part-time employment fell by 96,000 (-2.6%).
