Canada invited more candidates in the new all-program Express Entry draw
On July 4, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 700 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under Express Entry. In this draw, IRCC invited candidates under all immigration programs. In round #253, the cut-off score was 511 points, 25 points more than in the previous all-program draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was July 1, 2023, at 09:31:32 UTC. As of July 4, 2023, there are 214,529 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 5,474 fewer than in the previous update. In 2023, Canada issued 60,248 ITAs through the seventeenth Express Entry draws.

Alberta published the results of the new AAIP draws
On July 4, 2023, the Government of Alberta published the results of the new invitation rounds in the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The province held two draws under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). On June 29, 2023, Alberta invited 65 candidates working in the construction sector. On July 4, the province issued 12 invitations under the Designated Healthcare Pathway. The minimum scores for these draws were 316 and 354, respectively. As of July 4, 2023, the province invited 1,720 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry and issued 5,440 nomination certificates.

Almost 165,000 Ukrainian nationals arrived in Canada under the CUAET
On July 4, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). According to the latest update, between March 17, 2022, and June 24, 2023, IRCC received 1,084,599 applications under the CUAET. In total, IRCC has approved 784,272 applications from Ukrainian nationals. The Government of Canada has extended the special measures for Ukrainian citizens, allowing them to apply for a visa under the CUAET until July 15, 2023. From March 17, 2022, to June 24, 2023, 164,626 Ukrainian arrived in Canada under the CUAET program.

Additional 590 Afghan refugees arrived in Canada
On July 4, 2023, the Government of Canada made a new update regarding the Afghan refugees arriving in the country. The last update shows Canada has accepted 590 Afghan refugees since June 27, 2023. As of now, Canada has welcomed a total of 33,995 Afghan refugees. Canada received 18,920 Afghans and their families’ applications under the Special Immigration Measures Program for Afghans who had assisted the Government of Canada in Afghanistan. 10,860 Afghans arrived in Canada under that program, and 17,625 Afghan nationals came under the Humanitarian program. In addition, Canada admitted 2,010 applicants under the pathway for extended family members of former interpreters.
