Canada has extended the status restoration policy
On December 31, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has extended the temporary policy adopted on July 14, 2020, which allows foreign nationals whose temporary resident status has expired more than 90 ago to apply for status restoration. The initial deadline for the status restoration application was December 31, 2020. Now, IRCC allows anyone who maintained a valid status on or after January 30, 2020, but now has an expired status, to apply for restoration until August 31, 2021. This policy should help foreign workers, students and visitors who lost their status due to COVID-19 to stay in Canada legally.
