OINP invited 818 skilled trades candidates
On February 24, 2022, Ontario invited 818 candidates under the Skilled Trades Stream of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 359-600. Candidates, who received a notification of interest on February 24, 2022 don’t need to contact the program and can apply to the stream. This year, Ontario invited 1,850 candidates in two draws under the Skilled Trades Stream. The OINP already invited 5,794 candidates under all streams of OINP in 2022.

Manitoba invited 278 candidates in draw #137
On February 24, 2022, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #137, MPNP issued 206 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The minimum score to get the LAA in this category was 612 points, 3 points fewer compared to the previous draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, Manitoba issued 39 LAAs. The lowest score in the SWO category was 685 points, 20 points fewer than in the previous round. In addition, Manitoba invited 33 candidates in the International Education Category. In total, Manitoba issued LAAs to 278 candidates, including 66 Express Entry candidates. MPNP has invited 1,309 candidates in 2022, and 300 of them received invitations in the Express Entry.

Ontario released a notice for candidates invited under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream
On February 24, 2022, the Government of Ontario published a notice for applicants who received a notification of interest (NOI) under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream on February 22, 2022. According to the notice, applicants whose Express Entry profile expires before submitting their OINP application must create a new Express Entry profile. They will also have to add the copies of the letters from IRCC, acknowledging the new and expired profiles with the Express Entry number and job seeker validation code, as well as the copy of the profile expiration letter received from IRCC.

Ottawa introduced measures for those affected by the situation in Ukraine
On February 24, 2022, the Government of Canada introduced new measures for individuals affected by the situation in Ukraine. As of now, Canada will prioritize applications of immediate family members of Ukrainian-Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Their applications will urgently be processed so they can travel to Canada at any time. The Government also extended the temporary public policy that allows some visitors in Canada, including Ukrainians, to apply for a work permit and stay in Canada while their work permit application is processed.

Canada advises Canadian residents and permanent residents to avoid all travel to Ukraine
On February 24, 2022, the Government of Canada published Canada’s response to the crisis in Ukraine and advised to avoid all travel. Canadians living in Ukraine should shelter in place unless they can leave the country safely. Those who need consular assistance have to contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre (EWRC) for 24/7 emergency consular assistance. Canadian permanent residents who don’t have a valid PR card can apply for a permanent resident travel document to travel back to Canada.
