Ontario issued 1,186 invitations in 3 Employer Job Offer Streams
On December 7, 2021, the Government of Ontario held new draws in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW), International Student Stream (EJO IS), and In-Demand Skills Stream (EJO IDS) of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The province issued 503 invitations to apply (ITAs) to the eligible candidates through the EJO FW Stream with a minimum score of 37, and 620 ITAs to international students through the EJO IS Stream with a score of 62 and above. Under the EJO IDS, the province invited 63 candidates. All invited candidates work in one of the following occupations:
Health and agricultural occupations:
- NOC 3413 – nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
- NOC 4412 – home support workers and related occupations, excluding housekeepers
- NOC 8431 – general farm workers
- NOC 8432 – nursery and greenhouse workers
- NOC 8611 – harvesting labourers
- NOC 9462 – industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers
Manufacturing (outside the GTA only):
- NOC 9411 – machine operators, mineral and metal processing
- NOC 9416 – metalworking and forging machine operators
- NOC 9417 – machining tool operators
- NOC 9418 – other metal products machine operators
- NOC 9421 – chemical plant machine operators
- NOC 9422 – plastics processing machine operators
- NOC 9437 – woodworking machine operators
- NOC 9446 – industrial sewing machine operators
- NOC 9461 – process control and machine operators, food, beverage and associated products processing
- NOC 9523 – electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors and testers
- NOC 9526 – mechanical assemblers and inspectors
- NOC 9536 – industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators
- NOC 9537 – other products assemblers, finishers and inspectors
In total, OINP issued invitations to 15,757 candidates under all streams of the OINP in 2021.

British Columbia issued 318 invitations in the new draw of the BCPNP
On December 7, 2021, British Columbia conducted two draws in the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In the general draw, the province issued 267 invitations.
- Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker 97 (+1 point)
- Skills Immigration – International Graduate 83 (+1 point)
- Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 71
- Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker 100 (+3 points)
- Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate 86 (+3 points)
The second round of the day targeted only candidates in NOC 0621 – Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers and NOC 0631 – Restaurant and Food Service Managers. BCPNP invited 51 such candidates. Both NOCs have a high number of registrants within the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System. The lowest score of those candidates was 103 points, the same as it was in the previous draw for these NOCs. In total, British Columbia issued 11,329 ITAs under the BCPNP in 2021.

Canada will help vulnerable women and girls in Central America
On December 7, 2021, the Government of Canada announced a new initiative to protect vulnerable women and girls in the northern part of Central America. Social and economic instability have forcibly displaced thousands of women and girls and led to the increase of irregular migration. Working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Canada aims to help 5,000 women and girls affected by irregular migration and forced displacement in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Over the next 4 years, the Government plans to invest $10 million to empower and protect women and girls in the region.

Quebec is taking action to accelerate the recognition of immigrants’ skills
On December 7, 2021, the Ministere de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de integration (MIFI) announced that the Government of Quebec will implement a new action plan to recognize the skills of immigrants coming to the province. The plan will take place over two years and provide an investment of $130 million to support immigrants by simplifying the skills recognition process and speeding up related procedures. It will also support various stakeholders that facilitate the employment integration of immigrants in the province.
