Improvement in the economy increases Canadian business optimism

As Canada emerges from the pandemic and companies start to hire once again, Statistics Canada announced that 75.7 percent of Canadian businessmen have a somewhat or very optimistic outlook for upcoming years. According to the Conference Board of Canada economist Kiefer Van Mulligen, ‘an acceleration in vaccination programs in June prompted some provinces to ease restrictions, … that allowed many Canadians to head out to patios, book vacations and engage in social activities, all of which meant more spending.’ Consumer retail sales comprised about 55 percent of Canada’s GDP this year.
