In 2020, Canada issued 243,250 work permits in the International Mobility Program

The International Mobility Program (IMP) is an umbrella program that allows Canadian employers to hire temporary foreign workers without applying and obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Such work permits can be either open or closed, depending on the specific program and stream. IMP work permits can be issued for individuals who fall into regulations of free trade agreements signed by Canada, several categories of Entrepreneurs or Self-Employed Persons, Exchange Academics, spouses of skilled workers and international students, Intra-Company Transfers and some other categories. In total, Canada issued 243,250 work permits in the International Mobility Program in 2020, 62,710 work permits less compared to 2019. The main reason for a decrease in 2020 is COVID-19. In January 2021, IRCC already issued 31,700 work permits under the IMP.

Canadian students may get a digital wallet to store their grades at their fingertips

The recently released credentials wallet prevents theft, fraud, loss and delay and revolutionizes the exchange of transcripts and other student information. The new system called MyCreds was ordered by the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC). It allows students to securely store, view, track and share official certificates, diplomas, ID cards and other identification documents. The platform and website are operated by two Vancouver-based companies: Digitary and Split Mango. Students will be able to access their credentials as their post-secondary institution joins the platform and notifies them their digital wallet is available. The platform promises to offer bilingual services (French and English). This tool may be also helpful to international students to quickly get access to all documents they need.
