Ontario issued invitations under the three OINP streams
On April 4, 2023, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 752 invitations to apply (ITAs) for the Masters Graduate stream. The minimum score of this round was 52 points, 8 points more than it was in the previous draw. On April 4, 2023, Ontario also invited 131 candidates under the PhD Graduate Stream. The minimum score for this draw was 48 points. In addition, the province invited six candidates in the targeted draw for the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project under the OINP’s Foreign Worker stream. So far, Ontario has issued invitations to 11,582 candidates under all streams in 2023.

Alberta updated the inventory and invited new candidates under the AAIP
On April 4, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published a new update regarding the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). As of April 4, 2023, there were around 1,615 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 120 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. In addition, on March 30, 2023, Alberta held a new invitation round in the Alberta Express Entry Stream and issued 150 Notifications of Interest (NOI) with a minimum score of 372. In 2023, the province invited 584 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry and issued 1,836 nomination certificates.

Immigration Minister announced clean investment tax credits as part of the Budget 2023

On April 4, 2023, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced clean investment tax credits as part of the Budget 2023 initiatives. These initiatives have three tiers: investment tax credits that include provisions to ensure worker benefits, low-cost strategic financing, and targeted investments focused on meeting the specific needs of sectors or projects deemed essential to the national economy.

Quebec invited new candidates in the new Arrima draw
On April 4, 2023, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) published the results of the 44th invitation round in Quebec’s online system Arrima. On March 30, 2023, MIFI invited 587 candidates to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. Candidates invited in this round had a minimum score of 576 and a valid job offer outside the territory of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. In this draw, Quebec invited candidates with work experience in 26 National Occupational Classification (NOCs). This year, MIFI issued 4,277 invitations. Since the launch of Arrima in July 2019, the Government of Quebec invited 17,562 foreign nationals in 44 draws to apply for immigration to Quebec.
