For a third consecutive year, Canada ranks as the world’s safest country for LGBTQ+ travellers

In early March, a travel site dedicated to safety published a report indicating the safest countries for LGBTQ+ travellers. According to “The 203 Worst (& Safest) Countries for LGBTQ+ Travel in 2023,” Canada has topped the list of the most LGBTQ+ countries globally for the third consecutive year. Canada has a strong record for LGBTQ+ rights. They legalized same-sex marriage early on, have constitutional anti-discrimination protections, and it is a safe place for gay and lesbian people. Compiling the safest countries is based on ten factors associated with LGBTQ+ safety. These factors include the criminalization of violence, protection against discrimination, and the legality of same-sex relationships.

Canada to have the second highest real GDP growth in 2023 and 2024 among the G7 countries

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Canada is expected to have the second-highest growth in Real GDP (Gross Domestic Product) over the next two years. Indicators of a country’s economic health are often based on its real GDP. In 2023, the United States is expected to experience a growth in its real GDP of 1.6%, while Canada is expected to grow by 1.5%. For Canada’s most recent immigrants, this could mean an increase in job opportunities across the country, potentially leading to economic stability as a new permanent resident (PR).
