Manitoba invited 34 candidates under Ukraine draw #12

On March 20, 2023, the Government of Manitoba held the twelfth draw for Ukrainian candidates. In this draw, the province invited 34 candidates through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). To be eligible, applicants must be Ukrainian citizens, have a minimum of CLB 4 in each language band, have connections to the province (close relative, community ties, previous employment, or studies in Manitoba), and score at least 60 points in the EOI registration points-grid, and possess a valid language test in one of the official languages. In total, the province invited 2,214 candidates in 2023, including 68 Ukrainian nationals.

IRCC celebrates the International Francophonie Day

On International Francophonie Day, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) celebrates the French language in Canadian culture. The ability to communicate in multiple languages strengthens Canadian society, fosters cultural appreciation, and increases economic opportunities for all Canadians. The Government of Canada values the contributions of people from francophone countries worldwide who have enriched Canada with their unique cultures and perspectives. In 2022, Canada increased the number of French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec to 4.4%. IRCC is committed to continuing its efforts to increase diversity in the country and to maintain a balance between the French- and English-speaking communities across Canada.

New Brunswick published new instructions for the Skilled Worker stream

The Government of New Brunswick published new measures to manage the inventory of the New Brunswick Skilled Worker stream of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP). New Brunswick will continue issuing Invitations to Apply to candidates who have lived in the province for at least six months and possess a valid job offer (except those working under NOCs 62020 and 65201). Out-of-province and overseas candidates will receive ITAs if their offer is in NOC TEER 5 only (except the NOC 65201). Out-of-province and overseas candidates working in occupations classified as NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 will not be issued any new ITAs.

Canada processes 53% of immigration applications within the service standards

On March 17, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the data on immigration inventories and backlogs. According to the last update, there were 1,962,600 applications for permanent residence, temporary residence permits and citizenship approvals in all IRCC inventories. According to the update, 46.4% of applications in the inventory exceeded service standards. IRCC is dedicated to processing 80% of applications within their service standard, though some complex cases may require a comprehensive assessment. Currently, 48% of temporary residence requests – including ones for visiting, studying, or working abroad and 54% of permanent residency applications are in backlog. Additionally, 26% of citizenship applications are also exceeding service standards.
