IRCC surveys the RNIP applicants

On October 5, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)is conducting an online survey to gather feedback from newcomers about their experiences in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). The survey will help IRCC understand what is progressing and where improvements are needed. The survey is entirely voluntary and confidential. IRCC will only utilize the information obtained from the poll to assist improve its programs and services. Participants’ answers will not impact past, present, or future applications with IRCC. Starting on October 5, 2022, IRCC began sending invitations to newcomers who immigrated to Canada through the Pilot.

Canada to announce a new Immigration Levels Plan

The Government of Canada will announce a new Immigration Levels Plan on November 1, 2022. This will be the second Plan released in 2022 under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). As part of the Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-2024, Canada aims to welcome 431,645 new permanent residents in 2022. This target gradually increases each year and reaches 451,000 by 2024. Each year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) publishes an Immigration Levels Plan that provides the framework for how many immigrants will be permitted to immigrate to Canada. This year’s Plan will reveal projections for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

British Columbia will pause some BCPNP draws for a month

Between October 12 and November 16, 2022, British Columbia will suspend draws in the Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). As the first major National Occupation Classification (NOC) update is underway in Canada, many Provincial Nominee Programs across the country will need to make adjustments. Anyone who has an application in the pool after October 12 will be removed, and they will need to resubmit their application when the system reopens in November. Candidates invited on or before October 12 still have 30 days to submit their applications.

Ottawa will publish guidelines for temporary foreign workers’ rights in 5 more languages

In response to increased inspections of workplaces by the provincial governments of Ontario and Quebec, Canada will be releasing its online guide to temporary foreign workers’ rights in five additional languages. Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has already published this guide in English, French, and Spanish, and is currently working on releasing it in Tagalog, Korean, Thai, Hindi, and Chinese. The guide provides an overview of the Canadian healthcare system for foreign nationals and rights regarding workplace injuries, health and safety hazards, working conditions, and housing. It also includes information on where to go for help if needed.
