Saskatchewan invited 64 entrepreneurs under the SINP

On July 7, 2022, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) conducted the fourth invitation round in the Entrepreneur Program in 2022. In this round, SINP invited 64 candidates. The highest Expression of Interest (EOI) score for this round was 130 points. The average score was 95 points. The lowest score was 80, and those applicants were invited to apply only if they scored a CLB level of 4 or higher in English or French. In 2022, Saskatchewan has already invited 227 entrepreneurs.

Canada experiences the lowest unemployment rates in its history

On July 8, 2022, Statistics Canada published a new labour survey analyzing the Canadian labour market for June. According to the new report, the unemployment rate in Canada hit a new all-time low of below 5% in June. Despite a decrease of 43,000 jobs in Canada, unemployment fell by 0.2 percentage points to 4.9 percent, as fewer people were looking for employment. In five out of 10 provinces, the unemployment rate was less than 5 percent. In fact, it was as low as 4% in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Canada invited 1,418 candidates under the International Experience Canada

Over the last week, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From July 4 to July 10, Canada invited 1,418 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of July 8, there are 19,614 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation. In this round, there were 191 ITAs for Australia, 1 ITA for Austria, 22 ITAs for Belgium, 18 ITAs for Chile, 9 ITAs for Costa Rica, 2 ITAs for Croatia, 25 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 1 ITA for Denmark, 3 ITAs for Estonia, 340 ITAs for France, 90 ITAs for Germany, 5 ITAs for Greece, 13 ITAs for Hong Kong, 122 ITAs for Ireland, 43 ITAs for Italy, 112 ITAs for Japan, 4 ITAs for Lithuania, 17 ITAs for the Netherlands, 42 ITAs for New Zealand, 1 ITA for Norway, 19 ITAs for Poland, 25 ITAs for Portugal, 6 ITAs for Slovakia, 56 ITAs for Spain, 11 ITAs for Sweden, 2 ITAs for Switzerland, 1 ITA for Taiwan, 237 ITAs for the United Kingdom. In 2022, Canada issued 94,415 ITAs under the IEC Program.

Quebec increased the amount of financial aid for immigrants taking French language courses

In Quebec, the provincial government is boosting financial assistance for newcomers attending full-time and part-time French-language courses. In a release, Quebec’s Ministere de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Integration (MIFI), announced that it is raising the weekly benefit for those taking a full-time French course to $205. That is only $5 more than the previous $200 assistance per week. The weekly stipend for these full-time students has risen by just 2.5 percent this year, which is far less than the current rate of inflation, which is at 7.7%. Last year, the provincial government increased the financial assistance from $188 per week to 200.
