IRCC invited 1,500 candidates under the Express Entry streams

On July 6, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under Express Entry. In this round, IRCC invited candidates under all Express Entry programs. In round #226, the cut-off score was 557 points, 89 points more compared to the last all-program draw on December 23, 2020, and 95 points more than in the last CEC-targeted draw on September 14, 2021. The tie-breaking rule for this round was November 13, 2021, at 02:20:46 UTC. As of July 6, 2022, there are 226,849 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 6,175 fewer compared to the previous update. In 2022, Canada issued 12,288 ITAs through Express Entry.

Saskatchewan invited 198 candidates through the SINP

On July 6, 2022, Saskatchewan conducted new rounds of invitations in the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). In the Express Entry category, Saskatchewan issued 279 ITAs. Another 398 invitations were issued to the Occupations In-Demand category candidates. The lowest score in both categories was 73 points, 12 points fewer than in the previous draw. In addition, the SINP also invited 5 Ukrainian candidates under the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand categories with a minimum score of 61. All invited candidates had Educational Credential Assessments. In this draw, Saskatchewan invited candidates under 20 different NOCs. This year, Saskatchewan has already invited 1,268 candidates.

Thunder Bay issued 15 recommendations under the RNIP

On May 17, 2022, Thunder Bay, ON, issued new community recommendations in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). The city approved the applications of 15 candidates whose evaluations scored as low as 49%. In 2021, the community recommended a total of 96 candidates. This year, Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) has recommended 80 candidates. The Thunder Bay CEDC will prioritize applicants for the recommendation who are most likely to settle and contribute to the local economy. Candidates who received a community recommendation can submit their applications for permanent residence in Canada to Immigration Canada (IRCC).

Canada continues to face increasing job vacancies

On June 24, 2022, Statistics Canada published a new report reflecting the Canadian labour market. According to the study, employers in Canada were actively looking to fill roughly 1 million job openings at the beginning of April, which is up 2.4 percent from the previous months and almost 45% from April. According to Statistics Canada, the rise in April was largely due to seasonal factors, with more employment becoming vacant in the spring and summer. The report also reveals that employment in all provinces has either recovered or exceeded the preceding numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic.
