The new All-Program Express Entry draw is happening today!

On July 6, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is going to hold a new All-Program Express Entry draw for the first time since December 23, 2020. IRCC has not announced the number of Invitations to Apply (ITA) it is going to distribute. However, we can estimate this number to be within the range of 3,000 to 5,000 ITAs based on previous experience. As of June 20, 2022, there are 220,674 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool. As for the lowest score that may be required to get an ITA in today’s draw, we expect it to be very high. Right now, there are 8,681 active profiles, whose score is above 501 points. If we calculate the total number of profiles with a CRS score higher than 451, we can assume that the lowest score in the future draws will remain high until all those 64,598 candidates are invited.

Canada fails to resolve the passport crisis

In recent months, Canadians who plan to travel abroad and need to order or renew their passports are facing unprecedented obstacles. The passport offices are rushed with people who are waiting long hours in lines to get the service. The Federal government even stated about the creation of a special “task force to improve government services”, which also includes passport services. According to CTV News, on June 30, ESDC issued a tender for 535 armrest-free chairs and 266 chairs with armrests which will allow passport services aspirants to sit more comfortably while waiting to be served. The public reaction to such an “improvement” of services is ambiguous.
