Canada invited 636 candidates through Express Entry

On June 22, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 636 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in the new PNP-targeted draw. In round #225, the cut-off score was 752 points, 44 points fewer compared to the previous PNP draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was April 19, 2022, at 13:45:45 UTC. As of June 20, 2022, there are 220,674 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 5,358 more compared to the previous update. In 2022, Canada has already issued 10,788 ITAs through Express Entry.

Canada welcomed more Ukrainian nationals under the CUAET

On June 22, 2022, the Government of Canada updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). According to the latest update, between January 1 and June 19, 2022, 8,366 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and an additional 43,017 arrived by air. Between March 17 and June 15, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) received 312,548 applications under the CUAET. To date, the applications of 136,877 Ukrainian nationals have been approved.

Special immigration programs for Afghan nationals continue to bring more Afghan refugees to Canada

The Government of Canada has remained resolute in its commitment to welcome at least 40,000 refugees and war-affected Afghans to Canada. Since August 2021, the Government accepted 14,935 applications from Afghan nationals under the special immigration program for those who assisted the Government of Canada in Afghanistan. So far, the applications of 10,670 Afghans have been approved, and 6,985 Afghan nationals arrived in Canada under this stream. In addition, 8,730 Afghan refugees have been accepted to Canada under a humanitarian program. In total, Canada has welcomed 15,715 Afghan refugees under all streams.

The College of Immigration introduced a new Code of Professional Conduct

On June 10, 2022, the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) introduced a new Code of Professional Conduct. The Code of Professional Conduct, which is now in force, was adopted by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) upon signature. All Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) must be licensed and abide by the Code of Professional Conduct. The RCIC Code of Professional Ethics and the RISIA Code of Ethics have been replaced by the new Code. The updated guidelines make it clear that where a College By-law or Regulation contradicts the Code, the Code prevails.
