Canada launched a new partnership to help Ukrainian nationals

On April 21, 2022, the Government of Canada announced a new partnership to support Ukrainian nationals wishing to travel to Canada. Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), introduced a new Ukraine2Canada Travel Fund. The Fund will be launched in partnership with Miles4Migrants, The Shapiro Foundation, and Air Canada. All Ukrainian nationals and their accompanying family members travelling to Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) can access the program. As of now, Canadians and Canadian companies can donate Aeroplan points or cash money to the Ukraine2Canada Travel Fund to support the initiative.

New Brunswick to splurge on tourism to attract more tourists to the province

On April 21, 2022, the Government of New Brunswick revealed the investments the province plans to spend on tourism to attract more tourists to New Brunswick and assist in the province’s economic recovery from pandemics. Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace introduced the province’s 2022-23 main estimates in the legislative assembly and plans to make investments in provincial parks, sport and recreation, the arts and culture sector, as well as the film industry. In total, New Brunswick will spend $36 Million to promote tourism in the province.

Quebec started 2022 with the lowest unemployment rates in years

Quebec’s labour market has bounced back after the pandemic, with 156,900 new workers. The number of unemployed persons also drastically dropped (- 94,900). British Columbia will support internationally educated nurses

British Columbia will invest $12 million to recruit internationally educated nurses. The president and chief executive officer of the Health Employers Association of the province, Michael McMillan, stated that “this investment is an exciting step in providing more support for internationally-educated nurses who want to work in British Columbia.” It will also make it easier and cheaper for foreign-trained nurses to get their credentials recognized in Canada. Health Match British Columbia will work with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and the Nursing Community Assessment Service (NCAS) to support this initiative.
