British Columbia invited Skilled Immigration and Tech candidates in the new BCPNP draws
On April 19, 2022, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and invited qualified Skills Immigration candidates and Tech workers. In the general draw, the province invited 147 candidates. The minimal score for candidates invited in this draw was between 77 and 125 points. In addition, British Columbia invited 24 candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 4214). In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 7 candidates. Additionally, less than 5 invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 3114, 3213). In total, the province invited up to 179 candidates. In 2022, British Columbia has already issued 2,809 invitations.

Toronto Business Development Centre will deliver Ontario’s Entrepreneur Pilot
On April 19, 2022, the Government of Ontario announced that the Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) will deliver the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Entrepreneur Pilot for two years. The Pilot will help 100 immigrant entrepreneurs open businesses across Ontario outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and support certain regions of the province to recover from COVID‑19. The TBDC has already started working closely with the Government of Ontario and the OINP to develop and launch the new pilot.

Newfoundland and Labrador will launch multicultural celebrations for Come Home 2022
On April 19, 2022, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, will launch a multicultural celebration for Come Home 2022 on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Rotary Arts Centre and feature musical performances by local and newcomer musicians and be live-streamed via Facebook. “Come home to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2022” is an official invitation to the reunion of citizens of the province living in Newfoundland and Labrador and abroad.

Canada extended the Ministerial Instructions for temporary residents until 2023
On April 19, 2022, the Government of Canada announced that the current Ministerial Instructions for foreign nationals applying for a temporary resident visa, study permit or work permit from outside Canada have been extended. Foreign nationals can submit their applications electronically until March 31, 2023. This update is aligned with the Ministerial Instructions (MIs) that are in effect from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. Individuals who are unable to submit an application using electronic means because of a disability are exempted from the requirement to submit their application online.
