OINP invited 471 skilled trades candidates
On March 24, 2022, Ontario invited 471 candidates under the Skilled Trades Stream of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 350-600. All invitees have their profiles created in the Express Entry system between March 24, 2021, to March 24, 2022. Candidates, who received a notification of interest on March 24, 2022 don’t need to contact the program and can apply to the stream. This year, Ontario invited 2,321 candidates in 3 draws under the Skilled Trades Stream. The OINP already invited 7,779 candidates under all streams of OINP in 2022.

Manitoba invited 191 candidates in draw #141
On March 24, 2022, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #141, MPNP issued 102 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The minimum score to get the LAA in this category was 769 points, 12 points fewer compared to the previous draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, Manitoba issued 64 LAAs. The lowest score in the SWO category was 712 points, 6 points fewer than in the previous round. In addition, Manitoba invited 25 candidates in the International Education Category. In total, Manitoba issued LAAs to 191 candidates, including 43 Express Entry candidates. MPNP has invited 1,707 candidates in 2022, and 376 of them received invitations in the Express Entry.

BC published the 2021 British Columbia Newcomers’ Guide to Resources and Services
On March 24, 2022, the Government of British Columbia introduced the 2021 British Columbia Newcomers’ Guide to Resources and Services. The guide is in ten languages: English, Arabic, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Farsi, French, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish, and Tagalog. It intends to help new immigrants settle into the province quickly and easily. In the new newcomers’ guide, immigrants can find information about finding a place to live, finding a doctor and medical services, getting government services, studying or working in the province, opening a bank account, or obtaining a driver’s license in the province.

Canadian Parents and Grandparents Program will grow by more than a third in the coming years
The Government of Canada is planning to accept more applicants under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in the coming years. According to Canada’s latest Immigration Levels Plan, annual immigration intake through the GPG is set to rise by more than a third in the next three years. In 2022, Ottawa will welcome 25,000 parents and grandparents, increasing this number to 28,500 in 2023, and 32,000 in 2024. This is a 36 percent increase when compared to the 2021 target of 23,500 PGP applicants.
