IRCC issued 924 invitations in the new PNP-targeted Express Entry draw
On March 16, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 924 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in the new PNP-targeted draw. In round #218, the cut-off score was 754 points, 7 points fewer compared to the previous PNP draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was February 10, 2022 at 14:35:27 UTC. As of March 14, 2022, there are 196,692 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 797 more compared to the previous update. In 2022, Canada has issued 5,551 ITAs through Express Entry.

Canada announced changes to the medical inadmissibility policy
On March 16, 2022, the Government of Canada announced changes to the medical inadmissibility policy of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). The new amendments will allow the Government to better align the medical inadmissibility policy with Canadian values on diversity and the inclusion of people with disabilities. According to the new guidelines, Canada has tripled the cost threshold for determining medical inadmissibility for PR applicants and removed special education, social and vocational rehabilitation and personal support services from the social services list that includes costs of treatments of some medical conditions.

New Brunswick will accept PGWP-holders via Express Entry
On March 16, 2022, the Government of New Brunswick announced that Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) Holders who have completed their studies outside of the province will be eligible to apply for the NB Express Entry Stream. Starting April 1st, 2022, PGWP-holders who possess a job offer from an NB employer in a NOC that is related to their field of study can apply for permanent residency in the province. Candidates who want to live and work in the province and meet all requirements for each stage of the Express Entry Stream are encouraged to submit their applications for PR.

New Brunswick announced support to Ukraine
On March 16, 2022, the Office of the Premier of New Brunswick announced the province’s support to Ukraine. According to Premier Blaine Higgs, there are more than 3,500 New Brunswick residents who possess Ukrainian descent or were born in Ukraine. The province is ready to welcome Ukrainian refugees and help those who are still in Ukraine. New Brunswick has already donated $100,000 to the National Bank of Ukraine to support Ukrainians who face violence in the illegal and unjustified war imposed by Russia.
