OINP invited 773 candidates through the Human Capital Priorities Stream

On February 22, 2022, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a new round of invitations in Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. In this draw, OINP issued 773 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates who possess work experience in one of the in-demand occupations. The CRS Express Entry score range of those candidates was 455-600 points. All invited candidates work in one of the following occupations:

  • NOC 0114 Other administrative services managers
  • NOC 0122 Banking, credit, and other investment managers
  • NOC 0124 Advertising, marketing, and public relations managers
  • NOC 0125 Other business services managers
  • NOC 0211 Engineering managers
  • NOC 0311 Managers in health care
  • NOC 0601 Corporate sales managers
  • NOC 0631 Restaurant and food service managers
  • NOC 0711 Construction managers
  • NOC 0731 Managers in transportation
  • NOC 0911 Manufacturing managers
  • NOC 1121 Human resources professionals
  • NOC 1122 Professional occupations in business management consulting
  • NOC 2161 Mathematicians, statisticians, and actuaries
  • NOC 3012 Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses
  • NOC 3211 Medical laboratory technologists
  • NOC 3231 Opticians
  • NOC 3233 Licensed practical nurses

In total, Ontario invited 3,137 candidates through the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream last year. Ontario invited 4,976 candidates under all streams of OINP in 2022.

British Columbia issued 160 invitations in the new SI and EEBC of the BCPNP draws

On February 22, 2022, British Columbia held two rounds in the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). In the general draw, BC issued 145 invitations. The lowest scores in the categories were:

  • Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker 112 (+2 points)
  • Skills Immigration – International Graduate 98 (+2 points)
  • Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 77
  • Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker 125 (+5 points)
  • Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate 111 (+5 points)

The second draw of the day targeted only candidates in NOC 0621 – Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers and NOC 0631 – Restaurant and Food Service Managers. The province issued 15 invitations for such candidates. The lowest score of those candidates was 125 points, 5 points more compared to the previous NOC-specific draw. In total, British Columbia issued 1,346 ITAs under the BCPNP in 2022.

Ontario invited candidates under the targeted Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream

On February 22, 2022, the Government of Ontario held a new draw in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW) Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). In this draw, the province issued 8 targeted invitations to apply (ITAs) to candidates who may qualify for the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP). The minimum score for this draw has not been indicated. In total, OINP issued invitations to 4,976 candidates in 2022, including 914 EJO FW applicants.

IRCC has increased its budget by 105% since 2015

From 2015-2016 to 2020-2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the spending budget to $3.16 billion. Considering that in 2015-2016, the spending was only $1.54 billion, this is a 105% increase. During this period, IRCC has increased the number of employees by 36% to 8,413 to solve the immigration backlogs and decrease the application processing times. The spending budget does not include locally engaged staff and funding that IRCC permanently transferred to Global Affairs Canada (GAC) for operations abroad.
