Canada started to implement the new border and travel measures

Starting from December 1, 2021, new vaccination requirements for air, rail, and marine travellers to limit the risk of spreading COVID-19 will be effective and all travellers using Canada’s federally-regulated modes of transportation will have to demonstrate that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The new requirements are applicable to the federally regulated transportation sector that includes VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains, Canada’s all airports, and passenger vessels engaged in voyages of 24 hours or more. Those travelling by road transportation, such as buses, are not subject to this policy.

New immigrants to Canada are dissatisfied with the housing costs

According to newly released data, many new immigrants in Canada are facing housing problems, and nearly 40% of new immigrants are completely dissatisfied with their housing. Many people have the inherent impression that new immigrants will come to Canada with a lot of money to buy a house, but this is not the case. With so many new immigrants with core housing needs, they are naturally dissatisfied with the Canadian housing market. Statistics Canada found that new immigrants and minorities have very low satisfaction with their housing. In 2018, only 63% of new immigrants said they were satisfied.

Latino families are seven times more likely to end up in family court in Canada

A study by researchers from Ryerson and the University of Toronto has highlighted the problems faced by children of Latin American origin and their families in the Canadian child protection system. When a Latino family comes into contact with the child protection system in Canada, they do not encounter the same problems as other communities. In 2018, Latino families were over-represented in the system at a ratio of 133 Latino families vs. 57 white families. Latino families are 7 times more likely to end up in family court compared to white families, and Latino children are three times more likely to witness domestic violence.
