Canada launched COVID-19 proof of vaccination for travel
On October 21, 2021, the Government of Canada published the details of Canada’s COVID-19 proof of vaccination for travel. The document will let Canadians demonstrate that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 when travelling within and outside Canada. All fully vaccinated Canadian citizens can get their proof of vaccination from their province or territory. The Government also advised Canadians to check public health requirements of the country they travel, since the vaccination and entry requirements can be different in other countries.

Ontario issued 542 invitations through the Master’s Graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams
On October 20, 2021, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued invitations to apply (ITAs) for the Master’s Graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams. The province issued 479 ITAs to the eligible candidates under the Master’s Graduate Stream. The minimum score of this round was 35 points, the same as it was in the previous draw. Ontario also invited 63 candidates under the Ph.D. Graduate Stream. The minimum score for this draw was 25, 9 points more than in the previous program-specific draw. In 2020, the province has not invited any candidates under these two streams. In 2019, OINP invited only 1,000 candidates of the Master’s Graduate Stream. In total, Ontario invited 1,834 candidates under the Master’s Graduate Stream, and 204 candidates under the Ph.D. Graduate Stream in 2021.

MPNP issued 464 invitations to apply for the nomination of Manitoba
On October 21, 2021, Manitoba conducted a new draw in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #128, Manitoba invited 388 candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. The lowest score of those who received a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) was 375, 71 points fewer compared to draw #127. As for the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, the province invited 39 individuals, and the lowest score to get the LAA was 716, 13 points fewer than in the previous round. In addition, MPNP invited 37 candidates in the International Education Category. Of those 464 invited in this round, 94 candidates had valid Express Entry profiles. In 2021, Manitoba already invited 8,931 individuals under the MPNP, including 3,720 Express Entry candidates.

Canada will lift the travel ban from Morocco
Due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases, the Government of Canada had suspended all direct flights from Morocco. The travel ban, that was in effect from August 29 will be lifted at 00:01 EDT on October 29. Fully vaccinated as well as unvaccinated travellers who are eligible to enter Canada will need to follow additional measures. All travellers must provide either a negative COVID-19 molecular test result documented in the Moroccan COVID-19 PCR Test Certificate, taken within 72 hours before departure or instead of a negative test, a previous positive test result taken between 14 and 180 days before departure to Canada. Before boarding, air operators will check passengers’ Moroccan COVID-19 PCR Test Certificates by scanning the digital QR codes.
